MBI Investor acquires GHA Glashandel Alpnach AG
An MBI investor has acquired 100% of the share capital of the Swiss company GHA Glashandel Alpnach AG („GHA“). GHA is a long-established wholesaler of machine-made glassware.
With the sale of GHA to a management buy-in (MBI) investor, Mr. and Mrs. Scheidegger carry out a well- and long-prepared succession solution. The MBI investor has taken over 100% of the share capital of GHA and started managing the company as the new CEO in September 2023.
As an importer and wholesaler of machine-made glassware, GHA supplies major Swiss B2B customers in the distribution formats cash & carry, specialized gastronomy trading and retail. The company will continue to adhere to this successful business model in the future. All employees and proven business processes at the Alpnach site will remain unchanged to continue to offer their customers a fast and high-quality service from a single source.
“I am very pleased that we have found a succession solution that perfectly fits our company and its DNA as an owner-managed company,” says Dr. Max J. Scheidegger, former Managing Director and owner of GHA. Dr. Max Scheidegger and Heidi Scheidegger-Waser will continue to support the acquirer and new CEO in the operational handover for over a year until the end of 2024.
In a separate transaction, the investment foundation DAI acquires the real estate property of GHA. Quantus AG, a highly regulated investment manager in the real estate industry, assisted the acquirer in this transaction. As a professional real estate investor, the DAI Investment Foundation is taking over the building and thus guarantees GHA a long-term tenancy at the Alpnach site.
